Microsoft and Casio sign Patent Agreement

Microsoft Corp. (NASDAQ:MSFT), the world’s largest software maker, and Casio Computer Co. (OTCBB: CSIOY) today announced that they have signed a patent cross licensing agreement that will provide the customers of Casio with patent coverage.

The deal involves Casio being able to utilize a number of software products for its business information systems and other products. The rest of the details of the agreement between the two companies have not been unveiled yet.

The treat of being sued by competitors for patent infringements has reached to an alarming level. Companies which have not bothered with patents so far are rushing to acquire patents that will help them gain leverage.
